Can anyone assist with a UK plate look up? Particularly on the historical side.

Kinja'd!!!

Many moons ago, when car specific forums were still active with the buzz of we can connect with other owners in our own little safe space, I met a guy who lives in the UK and owned the same Audi Cabriolet as me. We were both rebuilding our cars. We both wanted what we couldn’t have - I wanted the euro taillights and he wanted the US spec. So after many months of chatting we decided we trust each other enough to take the risk and shipped our taillights across the pond to each other! Additionally we both provided a place from our homes. I’ve had this yellow license plate for so many years now, but I know nothing about it. I recently started digging and determined, surprise, it’s not registered to anything currently. So now I want to know it’s history

For story reference, I went from this

To this, I ended up putting the euro plate behind the US plate for a bit:

This was one of my favorite cars, which is why the TN plate is also hanging on the wall

Can anyone help with a look up to provide some history of the plate in the top pic? RA04 PKZ

Edit: apparently I can’t type... correct plate number shows up as incorrect, might mean it’s too old?

I looked it up on this website and the info I got is it belonged to a blue VW Passat SE TDI from 2004.

You can check it out for yourself on that page by copy-pasting the plate number in the ‘ENTER HERE’ box.

As the licence plate is no longer valid, all I can say is, RA04PKZ was registered in Reading, Berkshire in 2004.

Ray Street Motors Ltd, in Congleton, Cheshire where the licence plate you have was made, (it’s common for car dealerships to have licence plates remade to advertise their dealership on the bottom of the plate), the dealership has since closed down as of September 2012.

So using another link we determined it went to a 2004 Passat. I know I did the swap before college so maybe 2008 - the dealership was in business then. Wonder if the guy worked there? idr

The vehicle may of been crushed, scrapped, etc...

He may of, or it may of been another dealership and he took this one off, as they would be replacing it with theirs.

He may of just been someone with a car for parting, etc... so many variables.

true true, at that point it’s hard to tell. I was really just interested to know what it was connected with.

Lately just putting a licence plate into Youtube will bring up a car dealership advert for that car.
